Natalie Theodore

“Having been a student at Sydney Vocal Arts Centre since I was very young and under the tutelage of Margi Coen, I feel honoured and excited to be on the teaching team now. After completing a Bachelors degree in Music at the Sydney Conservatorium, I’m totally loving teaching my students and I learn so much from them too”.

Natalie Theodore is a contemporary crossover artist and composer based in Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

She discovered her love and talent for music at a young age, and is a Sydney Vocal Arts alumni, having been tutored under Margi Coen in contemporary vocal since 2012. Her passion for the arts lead her to the stage, performing as part of Opera Australia’s children’s cast in “Turandot” (2015), as well as featuring as Louisa von Trapp in Gordon Frost’s production of the musical “The Sound of Music” (2015-2016). As a young vocalist, she competed in many eisteddfods and competitions, was a finalist in Sydney Eisteddfod’s “Junior Singer of the Year”(2018), and was one half of vocal duo Natalie and Julia, who over ten years performed live gigs locally across Sydney and across national television.

Natalie is currently studying for a Bachelor of Music (Composition for Creative Industries) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, being guided by leading industry professionals. She is currently a member of the Conservatorium Chamber Choir, and was selected to join their recent international tour to Europe (2024). As part of her composition endeavours, she was one of six finalists in the Indie Film Music Contest for her rescore of the animated short “Unabducted” (Young Category, Winter Comp 2023). Most recently, Natalie was the sound designer and composer for the short animated film “Can of Paint” (2024), created by students of UAL’s London College of Communication, and will be featured in the Cinemagic Belfast Film Festival. She also recently arranged/orchestrated for the Sydney Youth Orchestra in collaboration with the Conservatorium for a performance at White Bay Power Station’s “Power Up Festival” (2024).

Natalie is also a singer/songwriter, producer and guitarist, who performs locally as a solo act on the Northern Beaches. With a focus on storytelling and infectious melodies, she writes original material that ranges from emotive ballads to 2000’s inspired pop rock and everything in between. Her original song “Denim” won the Pop category in The Songdoor International Songwriting Competition (2023).

Natalie has been a part of the Sydney Vocal Arts teaching team for a couple of years now, and is enjoying teaching both vocals and guitar.
