The Big Sing Community Group

The Big Sing is held in Avalon with a new group emerging in the middle of the Northern Beaches soon! This community singing group is for those who love to sing but feel more comfortable singing with others.  All standards of singing welcome. We sing mostly popular familiar songs from varying decades and genres. Our group in Avalon is held on Tuesday mornings at 10am in the Annexe in Dunbar Park, the first session is free and subsequent classes are paid per class. We perform once a month in various places across the Northern Beaches including Council events, retirement villages, our own annual concert and the Avalon Carols Concert which we host for the community.  It’s an exciting group and such fun, and many of us go to our local Chill Bar for a cuppa and a chat afterwards!

    Purple Moon Community Choir

One of the most successful choirs on the Northern Beaches, Purple Moon was created and nurtured for many years by former director of Sydney Vocal Arts Centre, Margi Coen. It brings together a very lively group of men and women from a wide range of professions and backgrounds who are united by their passion for singing. This choir sings contemporary, jazz, gospel, pop and classic hits – putting its own stamp and style on its repertoire.

Members must be of intermediate vocal ability and a short (but sweet) audition is necessary for entry to this Choir. Purple Moon also have performance opportunities throughout the year.
